Being a parent changes you...

The title seemed to fit "being a parent changes you"!!
Thursday evening Matt & I had the best date we've ever had! Oh, did I mention Eli came too? You're probably wondering the best date ever AND Eli came?!?! She's lost it right? Wrong! We took Mr. Eli to see Sesame Street Live! I was a little concerned that he might be a little scared since Big Bird, Elmo, Cookie Monster, & all the gang were HUGE life-size! Nope, not our son he thought it was the best thing ever! I believe we could've gone to every showing and he would've loved them all! He was SO good! The show was 1 1/2 hrs. he did wonderful. His face was absolutely priceless when the characters came out onto the stage.

Kinda like this:
Price of tickets : $50
Price of snacks : $10
Price of souvenir :$25
Price of Eli's face
when they came out : $ PRICELESS

Now before Eli came along we would've never thought a Sesame Street 'concert' would make the top of our GREAT dates list, but this sure did! When we found out we were pregnant with Eli I swore off Elmo... I mean SWORE off ELMO! But, when Eli saw him for the 1st time on TV it was love at 1st sight! How can you argue with that kinda love? He He He... Anyway, Matt & I just had a blast watching Eli watch the stage and dance and sing and just laugh! It was such a great night! I know Sesame Street is a little um shall we say "annoying", but it was really a great show! Our 5 yr. anniversary is in April maybe Matt & I should seek out another Sesame Street concert? I'M KIDDING!!!

Our family time is so hard to come by which made this evening SO special! What a blessing that we are able to do things like this for Eli. We thank God that we are able to provide extra things like this for Eli. He's such a blessing to us!

Here are a few pics. of our GREAT DATE! Don't ask how much we paid for the big Elmo that Eli has... Just don't ask! He He He He...

Bad Week...BUT God provides!!!

What a week we have had in the Austin household! Last Sat. (the 8th) Eli & I were going to venture to Tulsa to find some curtains. Well, our van started acting crazy, really long story, but in short. Had a friend's husband look at it, left their house, and then barely made it to the Owasso Church of Christ parking lot before it was about to overheat! We waited there for a while for Matt to call me back since he was at work! Finally he called & said he was coming to rescue us, we called my mom to use her AAA cause we let ours expire we found out! Not good! AAA came and towed us to a local auto place. NOT the one we usually use, but that one was not open and their gate was locked so we really had no choice! Anyway, Monday rolls along and the auto place called me (cause Matt was back at work) and told me the van was going to be close to $1,000 to fix! Matt called just a while later saying he was on his way home and told me to call our regular shop. I did. Told the mechanic what the other mechanic said was wrong. By this time we had resigned up for AAA (IF YOU DON'T HAVE IT GET IT!! IT'S LIKE $70/YR. FOR YOU AND YOUR SPOUSE!). OK so our reg. mechanic said his labor was much less, so we called AAA AGAIN and had them tow us from the auto place to the auto place we always use! Funny huh? We really didn't know what to expect the price to be, but we know this guy and we trust him. He called Matt Thurs. and said it would be about $600!! YAY!!!
Next thing... I had to go to the dentist Wed. for a crown, just taking out the old filling and putting a crown on. Easy right? WRONG! Ended up I needed a root canal! My dentist got 1/2 way done with the root canal and then realized he couldn't get it all cause my root/nerves were too deep and curved! So he sent me to an endodontist. Which I went to today. The root canal another $300 and the crown that I will get in the next 3 weeks another $300!!! So in 1 week we have managed to rack up over $1200 in 'bills'... So, why am I praising God? Why am I telling you ALL this? Because God is so good! Through all this neither Matt or me have been stressed at all about money! Now, don't get me wrong, we have ample money for this in our savings, but really who wants to spend savings on this? Well, somehow (GOD is how) we aren't even going to have to use our savings! Our bank accnt. seems to have more money than we can explain right now! Not a mistake or anything, just something only explained by the wonderful power of our AMAZING Lord and Saviour!!! It's so funny cause you have savings accnts. for stuff like this, but Matt & I have always been like "once in savings let's keep it there"... Silly I know since that's WHY it's there, but still. Since Eli came along and I went to work part-time God has provided so much! We have been able to pay cash for everything we have bought, if we want or need something it's not been a big deal to do it, we have not worried or fought at all about money! Now, please don't take this post as a brag or anything! I just wanted to publicly praise our God for how awesome He is and how He provides!

Of course I can't post w/o saying SOMETHING about my awesome son! He has been talking so much! Saying more phrases now. We are still working on please & thank you, it seems this will be a battle! I was getting ready for church yesterday and Eli was in our room as usual, he was quiet though... not good! I walked around our bed to find my precious boy pulling Kleenex's outa the box one at a time! He had made it through almost the whole box! I said "No NO Eli!" didn't spank frankly cause I was kinda giggling over it... so just about 5 min. later he came walking into my bathroom with yet another box of Kleenex, this time it was all in tact he loudly and very assertively said "NO NO NO NO"..... Then gave me the Kleenex box! So, funny! He is also in this lovey stage. He will come to us and say "up up" we pick him up and he will hug us and lay his head on our shoulders. SO SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!

I love my Elijah Warren!!!

Thankful......

I want to say thank you to the people who have showered Matt and I with prayers during this time of frustration and fear. You know who you are. We are truly blessed with our family and friends. God is so good!
My precious Eli has really started saying things that make me think he's a NUT!! We were at the park Saturday and a lady said "he's so cute, how old is he?"... before I could answer my 20 month old son said "2!!!!!" (now we have NEVER said Eli is 2, he's not), I laughed and said "no you aren't" the lady then said "well, how old is he?" once again Eli said "2!!!"... So funny! He's determined that he's 2!!!!!!! So funny!!! So, later that day a friend from TX. came into town and stopped by with her husband and son (who was born the same day and same hosp. as Eli)... Her son was sounds asleep when they came, so they laid him on my couch. Eli kept walking over to him never saying anything or touching him. But, I guess he was bored cause he walked over to him patted his belly and said very firmly "YOU WAKE UP"... Again we have no idea where this came from cause we never say that to him or each other! So FUNNY.... Last night my 'precious' son was in the kitchen with me while I was making a sweet treat for Daddy for dessert. It was something that needed to be refrigerated for a while before the boys ate it. Well, right when I put it into the fridge, my 'precious' child hit the fridge and said "Want it NOWWWWWWW"... WOW! (He did get a spankin' for that one!!) All this info. just proves that children do learn a lot from what they hear, but they also learn things from who knows where!!! Everything I just told you we have never said to Eli... EVER! We don't raise our voices to him or each other, we don't say "NOW" or "WAKE UP" OR "HE'S 2"... It's pretty strange actually! What a goofball. Being Eli's mom is by far the most entertaining thing E V E R !!!!!

Just random recent pics.

My onery (sp?) ANGEL...

My BABY no more.....

Seeing as I am uncertain what our future holds in the way of having more children this weekend I was looking at some 'old' pics. of my precious Elijah Warren... All I can say is "AWWWWWWW...."!!!
I know that God will provide us the desires of our hearts, he promises us that in Psalm 37:4 (which is the verse I cling to during this questionable time). We serve such an awesome God! He knows best and I know that, BUT when your heart aches for another child and it doesn't happen in "your" time it makes you sad. But, then I have to remember that God knows best and His timing is perfect!
So, here are some pics. of my baby when he was a baby! I forgot to mention that some of the pics. have a strange 01 04 2004 date I assure you these pics. are of my son. I believe that when we had Eli we were using the camera SO MUCH that when we changed the battery we forgot to switch the date back to current!!
