Bad Week...BUT God provides!!!

What a week we have had in the Austin household! Last Sat. (the 8th) Eli & I were going to venture to Tulsa to find some curtains. Well, our van started acting crazy, really long story, but in short. Had a friend's husband look at it, left their house, and then barely made it to the Owasso Church of Christ parking lot before it was about to overheat! We waited there for a while for Matt to call me back since he was at work! Finally he called & said he was coming to rescue us, we called my mom to use her AAA cause we let ours expire we found out! Not good! AAA came and towed us to a local auto place. NOT the one we usually use, but that one was not open and their gate was locked so we really had no choice! Anyway, Monday rolls along and the auto place called me (cause Matt was back at work) and told me the van was going to be close to $1,000 to fix! Matt called just a while later saying he was on his way home and told me to call our regular shop. I did. Told the mechanic what the other mechanic said was wrong. By this time we had resigned up for AAA (IF YOU DON'T HAVE IT GET IT!! IT'S LIKE $70/YR. FOR YOU AND YOUR SPOUSE!). OK so our reg. mechanic said his labor was much less, so we called AAA AGAIN and had them tow us from the auto place to the auto place we always use! Funny huh? We really didn't know what to expect the price to be, but we know this guy and we trust him. He called Matt Thurs. and said it would be about $600!! YAY!!!
Next thing... I had to go to the dentist Wed. for a crown, just taking out the old filling and putting a crown on. Easy right? WRONG! Ended up I needed a root canal! My dentist got 1/2 way done with the root canal and then realized he couldn't get it all cause my root/nerves were too deep and curved! So he sent me to an endodontist. Which I went to today. The root canal another $300 and the crown that I will get in the next 3 weeks another $300!!! So in 1 week we have managed to rack up over $1200 in 'bills'... So, why am I praising God? Why am I telling you ALL this? Because God is so good! Through all this neither Matt or me have been stressed at all about money! Now, don't get me wrong, we have ample money for this in our savings, but really who wants to spend savings on this? Well, somehow (GOD is how) we aren't even going to have to use our savings! Our bank accnt. seems to have more money than we can explain right now! Not a mistake or anything, just something only explained by the wonderful power of our AMAZING Lord and Saviour!!! It's so funny cause you have savings accnts. for stuff like this, but Matt & I have always been like "once in savings let's keep it there"... Silly I know since that's WHY it's there, but still. Since Eli came along and I went to work part-time God has provided so much! We have been able to pay cash for everything we have bought, if we want or need something it's not been a big deal to do it, we have not worried or fought at all about money! Now, please don't take this post as a brag or anything! I just wanted to publicly praise our God for how awesome He is and how He provides!

Of course I can't post w/o saying SOMETHING about my awesome son! He has been talking so much! Saying more phrases now. We are still working on please & thank you, it seems this will be a battle! I was getting ready for church yesterday and Eli was in our room as usual, he was quiet though... not good! I walked around our bed to find my precious boy pulling Kleenex's outa the box one at a time! He had made it through almost the whole box! I said "No NO Eli!" didn't spank frankly cause I was kinda giggling over it... so just about 5 min. later he came walking into my bathroom with yet another box of Kleenex, this time it was all in tact he loudly and very assertively said "NO NO NO NO"..... Then gave me the Kleenex box! So, funny! He is also in this lovey stage. He will come to us and say "up up" we pick him up and he will hug us and lay his head on our shoulders. SO SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!

I love my Elijah Warren!!!

Thankful......

I want to say thank you to the people who have showered Matt and I with prayers during this time of frustration and fear. You know who you are. We are truly blessed with our family and friends. God is so good!
My precious Eli has really started saying things that make me think he's a NUT!! We were at the park Saturday and a lady said "he's so cute, how old is he?"... before I could answer my 20 month old son said "2!!!!!" (now we have NEVER said Eli is 2, he's not), I laughed and said "no you aren't" the lady then said "well, how old is he?" once again Eli said "2!!!"... So funny! He's determined that he's 2!!!!!!! So funny!!! So, later that day a friend from TX. came into town and stopped by with her husband and son (who was born the same day and same hosp. as Eli)... Her son was sounds asleep when they came, so they laid him on my couch. Eli kept walking over to him never saying anything or touching him. But, I guess he was bored cause he walked over to him patted his belly and said very firmly "YOU WAKE UP"... Again we have no idea where this came from cause we never say that to him or each other! So FUNNY.... Last night my 'precious' son was in the kitchen with me while I was making a sweet treat for Daddy for dessert. It was something that needed to be refrigerated for a while before the boys ate it. Well, right when I put it into the fridge, my 'precious' child hit the fridge and said "Want it NOWWWWWWW"... WOW! (He did get a spankin' for that one!!) All this info. just proves that children do learn a lot from what they hear, but they also learn things from who knows where!!! Everything I just told you we have never said to Eli... EVER! We don't raise our voices to him or each other, we don't say "NOW" or "WAKE UP" OR "HE'S 2"... It's pretty strange actually! What a goofball. Being Eli's mom is by far the most entertaining thing E V E R !!!!!

Just random recent pics.

My onery (sp?) ANGEL...

My BABY no more.....

Seeing as I am uncertain what our future holds in the way of having more children this weekend I was looking at some 'old' pics. of my precious Elijah Warren... All I can say is "AWWWWWWW...."!!!
I know that God will provide us the desires of our hearts, he promises us that in Psalm 37:4 (which is the verse I cling to during this questionable time). We serve such an awesome God! He knows best and I know that, BUT when your heart aches for another child and it doesn't happen in "your" time it makes you sad. But, then I have to remember that God knows best and His timing is perfect!
So, here are some pics. of my baby when he was a baby! I forgot to mention that some of the pics. have a strange 01 04 2004 date I assure you these pics. are of my son. I believe that when we had Eli we were using the camera SO MUCH that when we changed the battery we forgot to switch the date back to current!!

Sick'y pics.

Just some pics. of how pitiful my precious Eli was when he was so sick!!! Matt thinks I'm crazy cause I took these, but he's not a mom!!!

KA BOOM

I think we are all over our illness! Crossing my fingers!
This morning my poor Eli took a HUGE fall! I was in our room getting ready and Matt was in the bed just watching TV, Eli ran into the living-room then ran back to our room. Well his little "trip" back didn't go well... He was going so fast his little feet were running so fast he tripped and hit his head on the edge of our bedroom door! It looks AWFUL!!! I know this isn't our 1st KA BOOM, but it's one of the worst so far! I took some pics., he looks so pitiful, but I love the pics.!!!

Still sick!!!

Here are are Saturday and we are still sick! It's been 1 week since Eli was diagnosed with the flu. We are still battling a TERRIBLE cough and major congestion, which could very easily turn into pneumonia, so we are watching for a boomerang fever! Now, I'm really sick too! Yuck! Matt has not gotten sick, yet! He's working all weekend so maybe he won't get it!
My son is officially in love... with Rachel Ray!!!! If we have her show on he just sits and watches her. He will go up to the TV and just pat it and laugh and smile. He just really likes her! On commercial break he walks away from the TV but as soon as she's back on he comes running back to watch!
We also rented an old "Alvin & the Chipmunks" DVD cartoon. Eli liked that too, he was trying to get into the TV to play with them! Matt has an old Alvin stuffed animal from when he was little, so once the weather warms up he will try to find it. Eli is def. his daddy's boy! Those 2 are becoming more and more 2 peas in a pod! It's very cute! I must say I'm kinda missing the baby stage though. He comes to me when he wants comfort esp. since he's been so sick. But he won't just snuggle with me anymore! He hasn't for a while, but now he's realizing that he doesn't have to, he can get up and do his own thing! Makes me sad! O'well I knew he couldn't stay a baby forever! : )

The FLU hits the Austin home.....

Well, it's been a while since I've posted partly because there's not a lot going on, but mainly because we are contaminated here at the Austin house! Let me start at the beginning of last week (Monday Feb. 4th) I was not at work but my boss was really sick, Tuesday she and I went to this intense training thing all morning and she was even more sick (I thought she was going to just pass out on me), Wednesday I had to work because my boss was sick and another girl was on vacation well one of the other girls started getting sick, then Thursday again had to work due to sickness and vacation the other lady got sick, so by Thursday evening I was getting run down and feeling achy I went to bed about 8:30, Friday comes along and we all (all 5 of us) at the office are SICK but no one will go home because we are all sick and we've already been contaminated ha ha...So I get a call about 1:00 PM from Matt saying that Eli is coughing really bad and running about 100' fever. Saturday AM Eli's fever was up to 102.6', he wouldn't sleep at nap time just coughed his little head off. About 3:30 PM, he had such a bad coughing fit that he couldn't catch his breath so he started to cry, I went in there to rescue him and he was BURNING up!!! I took him outa the crib took his temp. it was up to 103.4 (keep in mind I'd given him Mortin about 1:45 PM) so I gave him Tylenol and called the pediatrician! I really expected the Dr. to tell me to take him in to the Panda Hosp. at St. Francis, but he didn't! He told me to meet him at HIS office in 30 min! WOW you just don't find Dr's that do that anymore! So, off Eli and went to his Dr. The Dr. took one look and said "I can tell by looking at him he's got the FLU", so he checked him out and ran the flu test and sure enough my baby has the flu! We thankfully caught it in time for Tamiflu. BUT here we are today Monday 3 days later and he's WORSE! His cough is terrible and his nose is awful! But to top it off he's just so cranky, I mean my baby won't even play with his toys, he only wants his mama (which I have to admit I LOVE)he just sits and says "mama". Let me paint you a picture of a normal day at our house : ALL Eli's toys are outa his toy box, outa his buckets, and scattered all over his room and our living room! He normally will play in his room quite a bit, then come get us to play for a while. But today there is 1 car and 2 books out in the living room and nothing outa place in his room! That right there tells me he's not up to par!
I was on the phone earlier with Brandi and she can vouch for us that my little Eli was NOT happy! He's just not feeling well and I hate that! I just wanna make him all better! I will probably be back at the Dr. today after an attempted nap time!
Needless to say no pictures! This week will get better!

If I don't post I wanna tell everyone HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!!!!! Each one of you are special to our family and we hope you enjoy this attempt at a blog!
